By nature of those that directly consort with and transform into gods, the Deifos are very peaceful and spiritual people. However, they aren’t to be taken lightly as they are also gifted warriors. Deifos train at a very young age not only to master the powers of the gods, but also in weapon combat.
After the War of the Gods, the Deifos took on the teachings of Olyx as their philosophy and way of living. They generally prefer peace over conflict, and actively seek out ways to avoid confrontation. But when push comes to shove, they are more than capable of standing up to defend those that depend on them.
Combat isn’t the only focus of a young Deifos’ training. In order to fulfil the mission of a Deifos, to maintain peace and order throughout the land, a Deifos must understand the world they inhabit. As such, a Deifos’ mental training is just as important as their physical. Their studies include learning the art of diplomacy, keeping up to date with the politics of the world, modern advancements in science, historical text, details of the various races, cultures, and creatures that inhabid Demorra, and of course, the history and teachings of the gods.
Divine Weapons are specially crafted weapons that allow a Deifos to channel the essence embued inside a Deimorph Stone, and thus give the Deifos the ability to transform into the gods and gain access to their abilities. While these weapons allow Deifos access to the powers of the gods, they aslo act as a moderator of that power. Since the fall of Enedor, the Deifos began creating Divine Weapons with measures to ensure a Deifos wouldn’t be able to access too much godly essence. When a Deifos reach that limit, they then use the Divine Weapon to expel the built up energy, freeing them up to continue to use the powers of the gods.
However, before a Deifos can begin channeling a god’s essence they must first learn to master weapon combat in one or more of the four Divine Weapons. These weapons include a Divine Sword, Divine Spear, Divine Axe, and a Divine Bow. Each one comes with it a unique style of combat. The Divine Sword is very well balanced, offering both quick and strong attacks that are useful in just about any situation. The Divine Axe is very slow, but the power it brings is unmeasurable. The spear is weak in strength, but it’s speed and range are unmatched for close quarter combat. The Divine Bow offers devistating attacks at great distances, allowing the wielder to begin every fight with a heavy advantage.
While the Divine Weapons are unique in their fighting style, they all have one thing in common, four circular slots in which a Deifos can equip four Deimorph Stones. Deimorph Stones are clear crystal orbs that a Deifos receives when they first enter a god’s temple. If the Deifos succeeds in completing the challenges of the temple and proving worthy of that god’s powers, the god will imbue the Deimorph Stone with a portion of their essence. The stone will then take a textural representation of the god that placed their essence into it. The examples to the left show Deimorph Stones with the volcanic god Magvol’s and the wind goddess Ventra’s essence inside.
Deifos find these Diemorph Stones when they first enter the temple of a god. If they are able to complete the challenges of the templ and prove worthy to it’s god, that god will then imbue their essence inside the Deimorph Stone, allowing the Deifos to transform into the avatar of that god.
Throughout Demorra, various villages, towns, and cities exist. Though they contain a wide variety of cultures and teachings of the gods, there is one common thread that holds them all together, the Deifos. For each of these locations, a Deifos Temple exists be it a small tent, or a large mural of wonder. Young children who find themselves orphaned are sent to these temples for shelter, and many of them begin their training as Deifos.
The temples are where young Deifos are trained. Once a Deifos comes of age, and has completed their basic training, they are sent to the main Deifos temple to continue in their advanced training.
The main Deifos Temples is located attached to the capital city, Protovas. While the king sets the laws of the land and enforces them, the Deifos exist as his equal to ensure their righteous rule and that they provide peaceful security for the people of the world.
